APPLE CAKE
(Nanà’s recipe)
Serves: for 10 persons
Difficulty: very easy
Preparation time: 20 mins.
Cooking time: 40 mins.
TOTAL time: 60 mins.
baking tin diameter 28 cm. - height 8 cm
Ingredients
5 apples
3 eggs
1 lemon
300 gr. Flour “00”
1 sachet (16 gr.) of yeast
1 glass of corn seed oil
1 small glass of milk
200 gr. sugar
1 small glass of anise
vanilla sugar as needed
butter as needed to butter the cooking plate
(A mixer is needed for blending all the ingredients)
Preparation
Put the three eggs (whites and yolks), all the sugar, the small glass of anise in the mixer and blend well till froth is formed.
Then add the milk, the corn seed oil and the yeast.
Once again blend for another 10 minutes.
In the meanwhile, wash and peel the apples. Be sure to remove the cores and to cut the apples into small slices, more or less the same, so as to get uniform cooking. Place them in the bowl of slightly acidic water we prepared adding the lemon slices.
Coat the cooking pan with butter. Then, pour the mixture in the pan.
Place the apple slices on top of the mixture.
Cook in the preheated oven at 180° for about 40 minutes.
When the crostata’s mixture will have turned to a golden color remove it from the oven and let it cool down into the cooking plate for about 10 minutes.
Remove it from the cooking dish and to place it on a platter.
Last dust the vanilla sugar on the top of the cake using a sieve.
